The Bewitching (2004)

In the beginning of this movie you meet Gretchen, a full on witch with all the trappings pointed black hat, black robes, cauldron, the works. She has a conversation over a boiling witches brew with another member of her coven. Gretchen wants to experience mortal pleasures, but it is forbidden by her coven. The other witch warns her against it, it is forbidden and there will be cataclysmic consequences of any member of the coven indulges in the carnal pleasures of the mortal world. Gretchen ignores all of this, brews up a potion to make her super hot and heads to Vegas! Once there she blows off some guys who hit on her at a stoplight (she's driving now). She then takes a sexy shower with lots of gratuitous nudity. After that she goes out to walk the streets, spotting a guy and girl and apparently casting a little hex that causes them to become super horny. What follows is pretty much a classic porn scene, music and all. It's a very random one that has nothing to do with the rest of the movie. It then gets back to Gretchen's little adventures as she goes into a bar, She then meets three friends who are playing pool and starts seducing them one by one. Graphic scenes of nookie ensue. She curses the men afterwards, trapping them in a mirror. After the second friend succumbs to Gretchen's charms there is a scene where the other witches of the coven discuss what she's doing and one is sent to stop her. The new witch goes to the bar and meets up with the third friend before Gretchen returns, giving him a vision of a sexy hot tub scene (with lots more gratuitous nudity). The third friend (who is fairly dorky but funny) then flirts with the witch a bit before Gretchen shows up again. As he goes to get her the new witch is replaced by the coven leader who takes over the task of dealing with Gretchen. The coven leader then is “picked up” by Gretchen and a sort of sexy showdown commences back at Gretchen's hotel room, after which Gretchen gets her just desserts.

This movie is more of a soft-core porn movie with horror elements as it is a horror movie with lots of gratuitous nudity and sex scenes. The acting isn't terrible and it has some humorous moments mixed in there. The premise isn't too bad and could have been filled out more. Really though, there isn't much substance to this movie. Special effects are limited to makeup, bad wigs, funky contact lenses and camera tricks. The audio is crap, but thankfully there isn't much important talking in the movie. The music is pretty groovy though. The actual cinema photography is nifty too. The scenes are well shot and they do a lot of neat little camera tricks that make it more fun to watch.

If you are looking for a good horror flick, don't bother with this. If you want to see naked girls but can't be bothered with searching the internet, here you go! It's not as skeezy as most porn that's out there, but it doesn't have much more substance than them either. That said the actual plot and movie elements of it are actually better than some movies that were made to just be horror movies. All things considered though, it does what it does fairly well.
